Panel Sytem v. Seamless System

Posted on January 20, 2014

Climbing Walls are an asset and need to be managed as so. When an asset needs to be retired, or changed, you will need to look at the costs associated with doing so.A seamless textured wall system puts you in a position of not being able to modify, or replace your wall systems. If you do, it will be extremely expensive and will have a negative impact on your balance sheet.

A panel wall system will allow you to change, or replace your wall system any time, and you can re-coup a good percentage of the used asset by either re-selling the materials, or reusing them.

Why is this issue important? To maximize your return on assets by re-purposing the materials, and increasing your customer satisfaction. Every time I have modified one of my gyms my revenues go up and the customers are excited about new climbing walls. Health clubs would never keep their equipment on the floor for more than 5 to 7 years. The equipment is the main product that is being presented to the customer. Just the same, the climbing walls are the main product being presented to the customer. It is important to be able to manage that asset to the best possible scenario for the benefit to the customer.

On a side note, I have never had a customer come up to the front desk and complain about the seams on the climbing walls. On the other hand, we have had countless comments about route setting. No surprise there.

Think about how you can maximize your return on your climbing wall investment. Go with the panels.
